Wedding Update Q+A

After 7 months of being engaged, how about a wedding update Q+A? I figured it’s time to answer a lot of the questions I’ve been getting about wedding planning. If you’re wondering why I haven’t shared much up to this point, it’s because we still have time until the wedding. We are really enjoying being engaged, calling each other fiance, and taking our sweet time planning the big day.

Truth be told, I always knew I wanted to get married in the Spring and Spring 2018 was definitely not enough time to plan. Although there hasn’t been much ‘planning’ going on up to this point, I can still answer a lot of your questions. I figured a wedding update Q+A would be the perfect way to keep you guys in the loop!

Wedding update Q+A:

HAVE YOU CHOSEN A DATE?

This is the question I’ve been asked most since we got engaged!! We are working on it….but for anyone that knows me, I don’t like to be rushed. I want to plan a wedding without being super stressed out. So to answer the question, we have a date in mind and are waiting to finalize the venue but it’s looking like April 2019. That seems like forever away, but it will be here before I know it!!

WHERE WILL YOU GUYS GET MARRIED?

We are both from the Dallas area and since that will always be home for us & our families, we will get married there. We were entertaining the idea of destination, but I have had to miss so many of my friends weddings because I was unable to make it to the destination. For us personally, we would rather (almost) everyone we invite be able to make it to the wedding because that’s what it’s about for us….the more the merrier!

WHAT IDEAS DO YOU HAVE IN MIND FOR YOUR DRESS?

I honestly have no idea…all ideas I had previous to being engaged feel like they’ve vanished. I really want to embrace this time and enjoy the process, so I’m going to make the most of trying on dresses…after all, you only get the chance to do this once! Would you guys be interested in a blog post of me trying on dresses or a YouTube video?

I do think I’ve decided that I want to have a ceremony dress and a reception dress to change into after the 1st dance…but that’s about as far as I’ve made it on any decision making. Co-designing one of my dresses would be a dream come true!

HOW DID YOU & KYLE MEET?

We met in Houston while I was visiting my sister for my 26th birthday. I will get more into how we met in another post, but you should know that the first words out of Kyle’s mouth were…”you…I’m going to marry you” (as he pointed and walked towards me). He may or may not have been inhebriated, but I will save all of those details for a later post. I was swoon but not sold on his suave behavior at the very start 😉

HAVE YOU DECIDED ON BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES?

Surprisingly enough, I have thought about my bridesmaids dresses more than I have my own dress. I definitely want neutral tones and think I’m leaning towards white, ivory, cream, and nude type colors. I am so torn between having them in all the same dress or doing different style dresses. I know this is a trendy thing right now so I’m worried I will look back and regret not going the classic route, but I’m also not classic so it’s very me. I’m also entertaining the idea of doing a jumpsuit rather than a dress….what are y’alls thoughts on the bridesmaid attire? Should I do a separate post on this?

WILL YOU BE DOING WEDDING POSTS THROUGHOUT YOUR PLANNING PROCESS?

Yes, absolutely! I have just added a ‘wedding‘ tab to the main menu under ‘categories’ where you can find all of my wedding posts. I’m going to need all the help and input from you guys I can get!! I also love that this is such a great time for y’all to get to know me on a more personal level and for me to have the opportunity to engage with an entirely new audience/demographic (brides, wives, moms, etc). Please leave your questions in the comments below or anything you might want to see along my wedding journey so I can include them in future wedding posts!

XO.

I AGREE THAT taking the time to have a long engagement is THE BEST! BEING ENGAGED IS SO FUN SO DEFINITELY LIVE IN THE MOMENT AS MUCH AS YOU CAN!

FOR BRIDESMAID DRESSES, I THINK IT’S GREAT TO LET THEM PICK WITHIN A COLOR PALETTE. hOWEVER, A LOT OF PEOPLE STILL HAVE THEM PICK FROM THE “BRIDESMAID” TYPE DRESSES AND I THINK THAT IF THEY CAN PICK FROM ANY DRESS OPTION, THIS MAKES IT LOOK MORE CLASSIC. aS LONG AS ALL THE DRESSES ARE THE SAME LENGTH (sOMEWHAT) AND COLOR PALETTE, IT WILL LOOK CLASSIC AND THEY WILL FEEL GOOD TOO!
