Hey Y’all! It feels so good to be back writing on here, but it feels even more good that Spring Break is just around the corner!! Believe it or not, I’m 3 years graduated from college and I still count down the days. I can remember in college counting down literally the minutes until I’d be on my flight to some tropical destination. Unfortunately this year my vacay is nowhere near tropical, but I will be spending it with family/friends back at home in Texas and I’m always excited about that. Praying for good, warm weather so I can hit the hott pool parties while I’m in Dallas.
One of my favorite things about any sort of vacation is planning my outfits and packing (way too far) at least a week in advance. This is why I have put together a list of things that are must-haves and my beach destination essentials!
A Fedora Hat & Face Sunscreen are must-have/essential. Obviously the fedora is the chicest final touch to your beach outfit, but more importantly it will help block your face from the sun. This face sunscreen is my absolute fave. Now that I’m getting older (almost 25, yikes) I’m realizing how silly I was to be so careless with my skin on past vacations. As my mom always told me, “put your sunscreen on and wear a hat or you’re going to have leathery skin when you get older!” …she’s 52 and still a smoking hott babe. She’s always taken great care of her skin so I’ll take her word for it and you should too 🙂
On the rest of your body, feel free to use this incredible Beach Tanning Oil by the one and only Bobbi Brown. Smells dreamy and gives you some extra shine to soak up those rays!
Why the Leopard Tory Burch Phone Case? Well because leopard print is so chic for one. But the real reason fo this being included in the essentials list is because I am famoooous for dropping my phone and I know I cant be the only one. No body wants to be walking around with a tacky cracked screen, right? (side note: water proof case would be a million times better but they’re too bulky = ew)
These Taylor Headphones because first of all I’m obsessed with the white/rose gold combo. And secondly, let’s admit it…. you can only read so many magazinea while laying out in the sun until you get bored and want to take a nap. The perfect humdinger.
I’m loving the ‘1, 2, or 5 rings on all 10 fingers’ at the moment as well as the stacked bracelets. I think they’re a perfect dainty accessory, but not overboard for when heading to the beach (you deff don’t want to be that girl if you know what I mean).
I always have to be wearing a watch. If I dont, I feel naked. This Nixon Watch is my latest addition to my collection c/o my sweet boyfriend on Valentine’s Day. He did gooood.
Tory Burch Perfume because only if you aren’t human will you not shed a drop of sweat during your time at the beach. Freshen up, roll it on your wrists and neck. No dudes like stinky girls!
This YSL Lipstick is my favorite at the moment per Sincerely Jules recommendantion. I don’t even know why they call it ‘lipstick’ because it’s more like a shiney chapstick, not quite a gloss, and not dry enough for a lipstick. It’s just heaven on your lips and gives you the perf amount of color for the beach. Understated. Less is more.
And last but most definitely not least, your bikini..duh! My favorite bikini’s this year are by far Zinke Swimwear. I was so happy to get my hands on this turquoise ruffled top and the precious side ties on the bottoms from a lovely boutique called Savvy here in Norman.
As if you weren’t revved up and excited enough for spring break, I have even more exciting info to share. Ready??
I’m hosting my first solo event as a blogger!! I am so honored and privelaged to be partnering up with Zinke Swimwear and a local favorite boutique of mine in Norman called Savvy. I am beyond excited for this event and can’t wait to share it with all of you. I will be posting all of social media (duh) at the actual event, posting on here the looks I styled, and of course telling you about all the fun we had. We’re going to have music, girl time, and talk spring break boys & bikini’s of course. My personal favorite bikini by Zinke will be available along with many other styles to purchase! If you’re local and can make it, please stop by! I would love to meet you, chit-chat, offer some free styling advice and talk about all the cool places y’all are going for spring break. Here are the event details…
If you can’t make it, are you going anywhere super fun for spring break?? Leave a comment, I would love to hear and vicariously live through your travels 🙂
I know I know, it’s been foreverrr since I’ve made a post, but dont worry I’ve been missing it just as much as you guys have. I had to take a break for the full-time business I own/run, life has been cray cray and ish happens, but I’m back and have SO many exciting things in store for my blog this year!
Now that we’re heading into a new season, Spring (my favorite season of all), I figured what better time to introduce the new and improved Chic Style by Sage! I am so excited!!! What do you guys think of the layout/design?? I am still adding in a few more elements, but this is definitely a big change aesthetically and I’m so pleased. The sweetest girl ever, Rekita from Designed Lovely helped me out. If you’re looking for a new blogger theme, go check out her work, it’s beautful!
OK (side note), let’s be real. I obviously can’t finish writing this welcome back post without mentioning something quickly about the Oscars. I’m still trying to pick my jaw up off the ground from the moment Lupita Nyong’o walked the red carpet wearing that beautiful, powder blue, custom Prada number. Literally dieeeed when I saw her in this dress. Obviously she won best supporting actress (well deserved) but she also won my best-dressed nominee of the night. There were a few other fab runner-ups, but I’ll spare you the 13th time you’ve heard about this topic.
I hope you all have a mind-blowing-fantastic Monday!! Super exciting news I’m announcing here on the blog tomorrow about an event I’m hosting. Four words. Zinke Swimwear + SPRING BREAK 🙂
Hey dolls! Sorry for the wait on announcing the winner of this giveaway. I was in Las Vegas for a week long work trip and ever since I returned its been mad chaos. Most you know, I own and operate a nutrition business full time and this blog was something I started on the side as my creative outlet. I’ve had a few opportunities come my way with my nutrition business that I am extremely excited about, so I’ve decided to take those opportunities and go for it! I will be blogging as often as I can, but doing both full time right now is impossible for me! I wish we had more than 24 hours in a day, dont you?
Well enough about me and my crazy chaotic life! This post is about my 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target handbag giveaway and the WINNER is…drum roll….
Cynthia (1smileygirl)!!! Winner winner, chicken dinner for Cynthia 🙂 I hope you enjoy your bag as much as I have been enjoying my own! I can’t wait to see pictures of how you style your gorge new bag!
P.S. If you would like to keep up with my daily shenanigans, make sure to follow me on IG @chicstylebysage or my journey in the nutrition/fitness business @fitbods_bysage. I hope you all have a fab weekend!!
As I mentioned in my previous post about my new leather jacket (that I just adore), I have not only been super excited about cold weather but of course the wardrobe that comes along with it. Layering, big jackets, slouchy beanies, scarves, over the knee boots…I could go on and on! Due to my excitment, I have spent way too much time searching for the perfect Fall/Winter 2013 coats and who better to share the scoop with than to all of my fab readers? There are many coat trends this year, so I have broken them up by trend (you can thank me later). It was so hard to pick just one for each, but these are my top picks!
I’m such a tomboy at heart, so I am definitely a fan of throwing on a graphic tank, my fave pair of tennishoes, and getting out the door quick. Yesterday, this is how I felt. I had some errands to run and things to get done. What else are sunday’s for? Converse are without a doubt my go-to pair of kicks. They go with everything!
I most frequently wear my black & white pair’s of converse (I’ve been really into b&w lately), but I have a wide variety of colors I’ve collected over some time now. I love dressing them up with a blazer, graphic tee, and vintage levi shorts….but I would say they are most ideal for when you have a lot of walking involved in your day. In my opinion they are the most comfortable tennis shoes, but more importantly they are so affordable! Once they have seen better days and it’s time to get a fresh new pair, it only runs you about $50 and then they last you a good while 🙂
Although I love the tomboy look, what lady wants to look too masculine? Yes..there is such a thing. We can’t be looking frumpy ladies. Too much bagginess going on will not be flattering to your figure. I like to borrow a little from the guys, just to give my feminine look a little bit of a masculine flare. This is why I paired my tank with a simple bodycon skirt. This skirt is so cheap but it has been great for pairing with graphic tees and loud printed blouse’s. Remember, when you’re out running errands you don’t want to look you’re trying too hard to impress. However, if you’re wearing your boyfriends XL t-shirt and your baggiest pair of boyfriend jeans, people are going to be wondering what on earth you’re hiding under all that baggage! Pairing your graphic tee or tank with a fitted skirt will show off your female curves and leave little imagination to the eye. We’re not trying to fake people out here..let’s keep it simple, sexy, chic!
If you have specific inquiries, please leave a comment or email me and I would be happy to give my input! I am offering free styling and wardrobe advice to help get my blog going 🙂
P.S. If you haven’t already, don’t forget there is one week left to enter my 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target limited edition handbag giveaway! Details are here.
On the other end of the spectrum, this leather moto jacket by Cusp was something I had to splurge on. Yes, I said had to. I’ve been on the hunt for quite some time and I finally found the perfect one! What’s far more important about this leather number? It doubles as a vest. The sleeves zip off! 2 for 1? Duh. And actually, in comparisson to most genuine leather moto jackets this one is a downright steal. While I was browsing the Cusp department (my fave) in Neiman Marcus, the kind lady helping me said this leather jacket is actually the cheapest genuine leather jacket that Neiman Marcus carries. And it just so happens to be made by Cusp. We’re talking 100% leather people. No faux here. You better get on it girls; cool whether is well on it’s way and this is a piece you’ll keep forever!
I am going to be wearing the you know what out of this jacket. Although my style is always evolving and changing, you can bet your bottom dollar that this girl will always love a little bit of edge. Speaking of edge..you know what would also be super hot with this look? The top handle 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target bag that is currently up for grabs. You still have over a week to enter.
