So the weather has decided to take a crazy turn on us here in Texas. Temperatures are reaching in the teens and I’ll just be completely honest…I’m a HUGE wimp when it comes to the cold (can’t help it, I’m from TX). In saying this, I obviously don’t leave the house without making sure I will be staying warm and comfortable. Let’s be real, the only upside to ridiculously cold weather is the fashion that comes along with it. Funky coats, boots, leather jackets, fur, etc…it’s all so fabulous and admittedly so, that’s what helps me get through these terrible temps.
Rightly so, I’ve been on an extreme sweater & coat binge in preparation for the weather and this little grey number is one of my most recent purchases — a steal of a deal might I add. Under $50 & great for layering up because it has a lot of room in the midsection. Not to mention, it’s SO warm. I paired it with this fun plaid top by cooper & ella (one of my favorite blouse lines I dished on in a past post here) to add a little color to the mix.
If you’re reading this and thinking I’m crazy for complaining so much about the weather go ahead and do so, but if you say you love it being this cold/windy…I’m calling BS!
I have so many exciting things coming up that I can’t wait to share with y’all, including the announcement of my blog’s new name & some fun collaborations. If you aren’t already, follow my daily journey on instagram..I love interacting with my you guys! Thank you for reading 🙂
New Years Eve is fun every year, but it was really fun this year for a special reason — my dad was turning 50!! I know, he’s young and yes he’s a NYE baby… so we planned a huge party for him at ZaZa hotel with all of our closest family friends and partied like there was no tomorrow.
Because I was going to be inside and around a crowd of people (it was PACKED) + cocktails involved, my main concern was getting too toasty. The girls thought it would be fun to all be in neutrals, so I opted for this stunning Alice & Olivia bustier paired with flawy high wasted pants and it was perfect in terms of body temp. I literally eyed this bustier months ago at Neimans but I was afraid to try it on out of fear of falling so in love with it that I would buy it. So a couple days before the party I tried it on just for fun and then naturally, couldn’t leave the store without it. Oops! I have to say…zero buyers remorse on my end. She will make another appearance…
These Stuart Weitzman nudist shoes are my new favorite heel. They’re so flattering on a woman’s foot and very reasonably priced for an investment piece. These will be a Weitzman staple piece and definitely worth the splurge!
P.S. that’s my fam in the group picture…my everything 🙂
I hope you all had an amazing holiday season. Happy New Year!! XOX
There’s nothing better (in my opinion) than a pair of worn out, ripped jeans and being in comfortable clothes when it’s so bitter cold outside. It was freezinggg the morning I shot this look so I was doing everything I could to look pleasant (fake it till you make it, right?).
Aside from converse and slip on tennies, I was never fond of the running shoes + jeans combo but I tried it with these black Nikes and somehow it all became acceptable to me. The beanie just seemed to go with the sporty vibe and obvi I was trying to stay warm, so that’s self explanitory. At this point I looked like a total tomboy so I added thedark red lip to bring a little feminine to the mix!
P.S. Did yall see my post oninstagram about the re-launch of my blog? Changing the name and getting a new design!! I was going to take a break until the new site goes live, but I missed it too much. I am beyond excited and can’t wait to share with yall at the end of this month!
Hope you all had a wonderful holiday and as always, thank you so much for reading!
We had so much fun at the grand opening of Elaine’s new store in Southlake town square! We sipped champagne, chatted with Elaine herself, & played dress up in the new Holiday collection of shoes, jewelry, & handbags. This black snake skin clutch is by far my fave from the Holiday collection because it’s so practical — you can dress it up or down! I would totally wear this with a casual outfit to lunch with girlfriends, but I also plan on carrying this baby with me to all my upcoming holiday parties. These wedged booties are everything, right?? (secret: Elaine puts a temperpedic type padding in all of her shoes, so naturally they are extremely comfortable)
Best part?? Since the holidays are coming up and the Elaine Turner team is amazing…they are offering all of my readers 20% off your entire purchase through this Sunday (12/21/14). Perfect time to get your holiday shopping in ladies!! Use code: CHICSTYLEBYSAGE20 at checkout
P.S. I just have to say, Elaine is one of the most down to earth people I’ve met thus far in the fashion industry. She is incredibly hilarious and refreshingly humble. If you get the chance, check out her new documentary series on youtube called Elaine’s Big Life so you can see for yourself!

These are two of my favorite color trends at the moment for Fall/Winter 2014. I love this merlot color for mixing in a little color with all the black in my wardrobe. I’m also trying to incorporate some light pastels into the neutral part of my wardrobe. I’ve recently acquired some of these pieces, but the rest are definitely on my list.
Some of us love the Black Friday chaos and some of us hate it. I personally love it…but this year I am working and will be doing my shopping online. I have scoured the internet and found you all the best deals online/in-stores accross the board + the ultimate cheat sheet of codes that will get you all the amazing discounts online (you can thank me later)! This is the biggest shopping day of the year, so I KNOW your wallets are well prepared 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving y’all! I’m so thankful for every person that reads my blog and follows my journey on social media. You guys make this all worth while and I’m grateful I get to do something that I’m truly passionate about.
