I know I know, it’s been foreverrr since I’ve made a post, but dont worry I’ve been missing it just as much as you guys have. I had to take a break for the full-time business I own/run, life has been cray cray and ish happens, but I’m back and have SO many exciting things in store for my blog this year!
Now that we’re heading into a new season, Spring (my favorite season of all), I figured what better time to introduce the new and improved Chic Style by Sage! I am so excited!!! What do you guys think of the layout/design?? I am still adding in a few more elements, but this is definitely a big change aesthetically and I’m so pleased. The sweetest girl ever, Rekita from Designed Lovely helped me out. If you’re looking for a new blogger theme, go check out her work, it’s beautful!
OK (side note), let’s be real. I obviously can’t finish writing this welcome back post without mentioning something quickly about the Oscars. I’m still trying to pick my jaw up off the ground from the moment Lupita Nyong’o walked the red carpet wearing that beautiful, powder blue, custom Prada number. Literally dieeeed when I saw her in this dress. Obviously she won best supporting actress (well deserved) but she also won my best-dressed nominee of the night. There were a few other fab runner-ups, but I’ll spare you the 13th time you’ve heard about this topic.
I hope you all have a mind-blowing-fantastic Monday!! Super exciting news I’m announcing here on the blog tomorrow about an event I’m hosting. Four words. Zinke Swimwear + SPRING BREAK 🙂
Hey dolls! Sorry for the wait on announcing the winner of this giveaway. I was in Las Vegas for a week long work trip and ever since I returned its been mad chaos. Most you know, I own and operate a nutrition business full time and this blog was something I started on the side as my creative outlet. I’ve had a few opportunities come my way with my nutrition business that I am extremely excited about, so I’ve decided to take those opportunities and go for it! I will be blogging as often as I can, but doing both full time right now is impossible for me! I wish we had more than 24 hours in a day, dont you?
Well enough about me and my crazy chaotic life! This post is about my 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target handbag giveaway and the WINNER is…drum roll….
Cynthia (1smileygirl)!!! Winner winner, chicken dinner for Cynthia 🙂 I hope you enjoy your bag as much as I have been enjoying my own! I can’t wait to see pictures of how you style your gorge new bag!
P.S. If you would like to keep up with my daily shenanigans, make sure to follow me on IG @chicstylebysage or my journey in the nutrition/fitness business @fitbods_bysage. I hope you all have a fab weekend!!
As I mentioned in my previous post about my new leather jacket (that I just adore), I have not only been super excited about cold weather but of course the wardrobe that comes along with it. Layering, big jackets, slouchy beanies, scarves, over the knee boots…I could go on and on! Due to my excitment, I have spent way too much time searching for the perfect Fall/Winter 2013 coats and who better to share the scoop with than to all of my fab readers? There are many coat trends this year, so I have broken them up by trend (you can thank me later). It was so hard to pick just one for each, but these are my top picks!
I’m such a tomboy at heart, so I am definitely a fan of throwing on a graphic tank, my fave pair of tennishoes, and getting out the door quick. Yesterday, this is how I felt. I had some errands to run and things to get done. What else are sunday’s for? Converse are without a doubt my go-to pair of kicks. They go with everything!
I most frequently wear my black & white pair’s of converse (I’ve been really into b&w lately), but I have a wide variety of colors I’ve collected over some time now. I love dressing them up with a blazer, graphic tee, and vintage levi shorts….but I would say they are most ideal for when you have a lot of walking involved in your day. In my opinion they are the most comfortable tennis shoes, but more importantly they are so affordable! Once they have seen better days and it’s time to get a fresh new pair, it only runs you about $50 and then they last you a good while 🙂
Although I love the tomboy look, what lady wants to look too masculine? Yes..there is such a thing. We can’t be looking frumpy ladies. Too much bagginess going on will not be flattering to your figure. I like to borrow a little from the guys, just to give my feminine look a little bit of a masculine flare. This is why I paired my tank with a simple bodycon skirt. This skirt is so cheap but it has been great for pairing with graphic tees and loud printed blouse’s. Remember, when you’re out running errands you don’t want to look you’re trying too hard to impress. However, if you’re wearing your boyfriends XL t-shirt and your baggiest pair of boyfriend jeans, people are going to be wondering what on earth you’re hiding under all that baggage! Pairing your graphic tee or tank with a fitted skirt will show off your female curves and leave little imagination to the eye. We’re not trying to fake people out here..let’s keep it simple, sexy, chic!
If you have specific inquiries, please leave a comment or email me and I would be happy to give my input! I am offering free styling and wardrobe advice to help get my blog going 🙂
P.S. If you haven’t already, don’t forget there is one week left to enter my 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target limited edition handbag giveaway! Details are here.
On the other end of the spectrum, this leather moto jacket by Cusp was something I had to splurge on. Yes, I said had to. I’ve been on the hunt for quite some time and I finally found the perfect one! What’s far more important about this leather number? It doubles as a vest. The sleeves zip off! 2 for 1? Duh. And actually, in comparisson to most genuine leather moto jackets this one is a downright steal. While I was browsing the Cusp department (my fave) in Neiman Marcus, the kind lady helping me said this leather jacket is actually the cheapest genuine leather jacket that Neiman Marcus carries. And it just so happens to be made by Cusp. We’re talking 100% leather people. No faux here. You better get on it girls; cool whether is well on it’s way and this is a piece you’ll keep forever!
I am going to be wearing the you know what out of this jacket. Although my style is always evolving and changing, you can bet your bottom dollar that this girl will always love a little bit of edge. Speaking of edge..you know what would also be super hot with this look? The top handle 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target bag that is currently up for grabs. You still have over a week to enter. Hi readers! Ok, so I got such a great response from the most simple DIY I posted last time that I thought I would post another. These gold dinosaurs are something I have seen on home decor maven Devon Rachel’s blog, adorable Amelia of Duckling to Swan, Catherine Sheppard of The Life Style (via Glitter Guide), and many other fab bloggers. It has to be the easiest DIY ever. I mean literally. You don’t need an artistic bone in your body to make this sassy desk accessory yours. Here’s the before (horrid) & after of my little DIY project 🙂 Hope you enjoy!
Just select the dinosaur of your choice at any local kid’s toy store (I got mine at a history museum down the street from my house for $10)
Set your dino on a peice of cardboard and give the heinous looking creature (dinasours freak me out) a pretty makeover with your favorite shade of gold spray paint. My favorite gold spray paint is by far Rustoleum Metallic Gold. It doesn’t look fake and it’s not too shiny or brassy. The perfect shade of gooooold (insert Austin Powers gold member voice here).
This is after one coat of spray paint. It doesn’t take much! I did one coat, let it dry for an hour (if that) and then gave him another coat.
And there you have it! You can also do this with small elephants, giraffes, and other wild animals in different places around your home. There is something about these animals that give an eclectic touch to your home. Try this out and let me know which animal you decide to give a gold makeover!
p.s. I really do hate dinasours. But I have to admit I had so much fun doing this… I think I might have to get a few different kinds and add them to my collection. Triceratops? Actually I think that’s what kind of dinosaur this one is. T-rex? Whatever the hell their names are….I may secretly be a new fan.
