Every once in a while I like to get out of my (casual tomboy style) comfort zone to try something new. And when you have the opportunity to wear an insanely dreamy embellished maxi dress like this one, you do it. I’m super excited to be partnering up with Urban Outfitters to bring y’all this very different look today. Can you believe we shot this in the city of Houston? Only Bri Costello could make the city look like we were out in the desert.
This embellished maxi dress is seriously a dream and belongs in every girls closet. I mean, it’s one of those pieces that you would keep and pass down to your daughter some day. It can be worn as a swim coverup, but it would also be really pretty for a bride’s rehearsal dinner dress if you’re getting married at the beach (obviously you wouldn’t wear it with a bodysuit/swimsuit underneath, but a fitted slip dress like this one would work perfectly).
One of my go-to looks has always been jeans + a tee, so the amount of tee’s I have accumulated over the years is actually embarrassing. When I saw this Rolling Stone tee though (grey version here), I couldn’t resist. It has that worn in feel to make it look vintage, but without the vintage price tag (under $45)! I also wore another Rolling Stones tee during NYFW with jeans, black booties, and a leather jacket… so I guess you could say I’m a fan? This one says ’89 in the bottom corner and that’s the year I was born, so obviously I took that as a sign we were meant to be…
Learning to rework your wardrobe and wear things from one season to another is a struggle (I think) we all face. If I’m being completely transparent, this has always been a challenge for me and something I constantly try to work on. If you’ve been following my blog or Instagram for a while now, you will know this is obvious because I rarely repeat outfits other than bags, shoes, or jewelry. Part of this is because in my efforts to be better about reworking my wardrobe, I am purchasing less, making my closet more curated, and investing in more classic pieces that I know are going to last.
Since the fashion world is constantly evolving & changing, it’s easy for us to always want the next seasons trendiest piece, but that’s not always realistic and sometimes what you’re looking for is already sitting right there in your closet. That’s how I feel about this grey tiered sweater dress (under $70)….
There’s no doubt that embroidered jeans (or denim in general) are having their moment. From the runway to high street, we’re seeing this trend all across the board and to be quite frank, I can’t get enough of it. Here I am wearing my embroidered jeans to elevate my casual street style look, but these jeans can certainly be dressed up with a pair of heels/platforms and a more sleek top. Speaking of, I am loving this choker neck sweatshirt (under $45). It’s a little better than your average sweatshirt and the color is divine…am I right?!
I’m back from SXSW and excited to share this look from the #bendelgirl Spring Blogger Guide I had the opportunity to participate in with 4 other amazing bloggers! As we transition to Spring, my wardrobe color palette is definitely starting to lighten with warmer & brighter tones. I love to start each season with a new bag and Henri Bendel is often my go-to because I can get a luxury bag without spending a fortune. This olive crossbody hobo was the perfect addition! Not only is the color a great warm neutral, but the bag is extremely roomy and will be so easy to carry with me for some of my upcoming travels!
These distressed levi jeans and white patent sneakers have been my uniform as of late, but I recently added in this flawless buffalo plaid flannel into rotation. I obviously don’t think I’m flawless, but an ode to queen Bey is always appropriate. We are officially experiencing Spring weather here in Houston and it sounds like it’s here to stay! Totally fine in my book because jeans + a simple tee + sneakers has to be my favorite outfit ever of all time. Urban Outfitters has always been my go-to place for vintage levi shorts, so I was on the hunt for a pair of high-waisted distressed levi jeans. Although these are not vintage, they have the same look and are under $100! I have seriously worn them at least 15 times in the past month…so they’ll have that worn-in feel before long 🙂
